Understanding the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy, birth and postpartum to enhance traditional Chinese diagnosis and clinical practice.
Pregnancy involves many physiological changes. These changes are not only reflected in a women's tongue and pulse presentations as part of a normal pregnancy but also influence treatment considerations.
This lecture will examine the advice and suggested treatments from traditional Chinese medicine literature with an understanding of western medicine physiology, integrating this information to determine the most effective use of acupuncture from conception, during pregnancy, childbirth and for postnatal recovery.

Debra is a New Zealand registered nurse qualifying as an acupuncturist in London in 1989. Returning to New Zealand she has divided her time between lecturing at the New Zealand School of Acupuncture, tutoring courses for midwives in the use of acupuncture during pregnancy and labour and a private practice where her focus is on women's health specialising in pregnancy care.
