Interactive skills for the 5 phase constitutional types:
There is no systematic description of interactive skills in Chinese medicine but a wealth of practical examples by famous practitioners like Sun Simiao or Zhang Jie Bin. This practice is called "Medicine without form" and is therefore regarded as the most powerful medical intervention: the formless Wu is the mother of form You (Dao De Jing). Sheng and K`e Cycles are used in psychological treatments and give direction to emotional processes that are stuck. So medicine starts to work of before needles and herbs are used. Rigid or avoided emotions prevent the expression of the Shen aspect of the affected phase and have therefore to be corrected first according to Ling Shu Chapter 8 which sees the root of disease at the Shen level. And Su Wen Chapter 13 adds: With Shen live, without Shen death.
About the teacher:
Josef Müller, born in 1956 in Vienna and practising now in Zürich, provided for a natural connection between the concepts of western depth-psychology as stated by Freud and Jung and classical Chinese medicine in the tradition of J. R. Worsley. Original trained in Shiatsu I feel a strong inclination towards Japanese styles of acupuncture and therefore I incorporated several of these approaches into my western psychological background to assist psyche/soul in embodying its heavenly nature. This focus comes from the tradition of the Sufi master Pir Vilajat Khan with whom I experienced the reality of the soul which in present is marginalized by so called objective scientific thinking. Following Ken Wilber`s reasoning that the greatest need for human kind is the reconciliation of science with religion I aim to integrate advanced scientific thinking (the concepts of quantum physics and chaos theory) with classical Chinese concepts (I Ging, Daoism) into an European form of body, mind and spirit acupuncture.
